Welcome to the Instructions for Authors section of Pollution and Effects on Community Health. We appreciate your interest in publishing with our journal and aim to provide clear guidelines to support a smooth and efficient manuscript submission process.

Article Types Considered for Publication

Research Articles:
Original research papers presenting new findings, methods, or theoretical developments within a scientific discipline. Recommended length: 2,000–5,000 words.

Review Articles:
Comprehensive analyses of existing literature that summarize trends, debates, and future research directions. Recommended length: 2,500–8,000 words.

Case Studies:
Detailed descriptions of specific cases that illustrate significant principles, phenomena, or methodologies.

Short Communications:
Concise reports featuring preliminary results, innovative techniques, or noteworthy observations that do not require a full-length article.

Editorials:
Opinion pieces addressing current issues, developments, or debates in the scientific community.

Letters to the Editor:
Brief comments on previously published articles, suggested corrections, or concise insights aligned with the journal’s scope.

Perspectives/Commentary:
Analytical pieces offering reflections, critiques, or personal viewpoints on recent developments or topics of interest.

Book Reviews:
Critical assessments of newly published books relevant to the journal’s fields, highlighting their contribution to the literature.

Special Issues/Themed Collections:
Curated collections centered around a specific theme, topic, or conference proceedings, typically overseen by guest editors.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Originality and Scope

  • Manuscripts must contain original work that aligns with the journal’s focus on healthcare and nursing.
  • Submissions should not be under review at any other journal.

Manuscript Structure

Title:
Provide a concise and engaging title that clearly reflects the manuscript’s main theme or findings.

Author Information:
List all authors below the title, including affiliations, email addresses, and contact details. Use superscript numbering for multiple affiliations.

Abstract:
A clear and informative summary (150–250 words) outlining the study’s purpose, methodology, key results, and conclusions.

Keywords:
Include 5–10 keywords that capture essential concepts of the study to enhance indexing and discoverability.

Introduction:
Present the research question, objectives, and rationale. Explain the importance of the study and outline its overall aims and context.

Methods:
Describe the research design, procedures, data collection, and analytical techniques in sufficient detail to ensure transparency and reproducibility.

Results:
Present findings in a structured manner using tables, figures, or graphs where appropriate to enhance clarity.

Discussion:
Interpret the results, explain their significance, compare them to existing literature, and discuss implications and potential applications. Identify limitations and suggest areas for further research.

Conclusion:
Summarize the main findings and their relevance. Provide recommendations or future directions arising from the study.

References:
Ensure all cited sources follow the journal’s preferred citation style (Chicago). Provide accurate and complete bibliographic information.

Acknowledgments, Funding, and Disclosures:
Recognize contributions from individuals or organizations. Clearly state financial support sources and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

Formatting Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
  • All submissions must be in English, following proper grammar and language standards. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek language editing services.
  • Use correct formatting for headings, subheadings, and citations.
  • Tables should be in Excel format, while charts and diagrams may be submitted in Excel or Word.
  • Images, diagrams, and photographs must be in JPEG format.
  • Ensure all figures and tables include captions and legends and are numbered sequentially.

Submission Process

  • Submit manuscripts electronically through the journal’s online submission system.
  • Include a cover letter stating the manuscript title, corresponding author details, and any conflict-of-interest declarations.

Peer Review and Publication Process

  • All submissions undergo a single-blind peer review to ensure quality and academic integrity.
  • Authors will receive an editorial decision: acceptance, rejection, or request for revisions.
  • Reviewer comments and recommendations will be shared to support improvement of the manuscript.
  • Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting (grammar, formatting, style) and typesetting (layout and design for publication).

Article Processing Charges (APC)

As a non-profit organization, Medires Journals maintains transparency in its APC policy to support sustainable open-access publishing. Our APC structure ensures fairness while upholding quality standards.

Refund Policy:
APCs are non-refundable except in cases of duplicate or accidental payments. Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days.

Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright for their work and grant the journal permission to publish.
  • Authors must obtain permission to reproduce any copyrighted content included in the manuscript.

Ethical Guidelines

  • Authors must adhere to ethical standards, avoiding plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification.
  • All copyrighted materials must be properly cited and permissions obtained where required.

Article Withdrawal Policy

  • Withdrawal during peer review requires payment of 25% of the APC.
  • Withdrawal after acceptance incurs 50% of the APC.
  • Authors must confirm withdrawal by emailing info@mediresonline.org

Editors are central to upholding the integrity, quality, and reputation of a scientific journal. These guidelines define the responsibilities, ethical standards, and editorial workflows expected of editors to ensure that the peer review and publication processes are fair, timely, and transparent.

Editorial Board member Responsibilities

Manuscript Management

  • Assign appropriate reviewers based on subject expertise and availability.
  • Ensure timely and balanced peer review, typically securing at least two independent reviewers per manuscript.
  • Evaluate reviewers' feedback and make well-justified editorial decisions (e.g., accept, revise, reject).
  • Monitor and follow up on overdue reviews and revisions.

Quality Assurance

  • Assess submissions for scientific quality, novelty, relevance, and ethical compliance.
  • Uphold and enforce journal standards regarding format, language, and technical rigor.
  • Maintain consistency and transparency in editorial decisions.

Ethical Oversight

  • Identify and act on any instances of plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, or unethical research.
  • Follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines in addressing misconduct.
  • Ensure ethical treatment of human and animal subjects, where applicable.

Editorial Integrity and Ethics

Conflict of Interest

  • Do not manage submissions from the same institution, collaborators, or students.

Confidentiality

  • Treat all manuscript details, author identities, and reviewer comments as confidential.
  • Do not disclose information to unauthorized persons or use it for personal gain.

Impartiality and Objectivity

  • Make decisions based solely on the manuscript’s scholarly merit and relevance to the journal.
  • Avoid discrimination based on gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, or ideology.

Communication and Collaboration

With Authors

  • Communicate decisions and revision requests clearly and respectfully.
  • Provide constructive feedback based on reviewer reports and editorial assessment.

With Reviewers

  • Invite qualified, unbiased reviewers and recognize their contributions.
  • Monitor reviewer performance and provide guidance or replacement as needed.

With Editorial Board and Publisher

  • Collaborate with the editorial board to shape the journal’s strategy and policies.
  • Report any concerns or systemic issues to the Editor-in-Chief or publisher promptly.

Editorial Timeliness

  • Strive to complete the initial review decision within 2 days of submission
  • Monitor the progress of revisions and reviews regularly.
  • Avoid unnecessary delays that may hinder authors’ publication timelines.

Manuscript Decision Criteria

Editorial decisions should be based on the following:

Continuous Improvement

Term and Performance Evaluation

  • Editorial roles may be appointed for 2-3 years, renewable upon review.
  • Performance is evaluated based on responsiveness, decision timeliness, review quality, and contribution to journal development.

Editors play a critical role in upholding the scientific quality, integrity, and editorial standards of a journal.

The below mentioned qualifications to be met in order to serve as an Editors, Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Guest Editors.

Academic and Research Credentials

  • Possess a PhD, MD, or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • Maintain an active research profile with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge and authority in the journal’s core thematic areas.
  • Experience with current developments, methodologies, and debates in the discipline.

Editorial and Peer Review Experience

  • Prior experience serving as a reviewer and/or editorial board member for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Familiarity with the peer review process, publication ethics, and manuscript evaluation standards.

Ethical Standards and Integrity

  • Commitment to editorial independence, objectivity, and transparency.
  • No record of ethical misconduct, including research or publication malpractice.

Leadership and Communication Skills

  • Ability to lead editorial decisions, manage peer review processes, and communicate constructively with authors, reviewers, and editorial staff.
  • Professionalism in handling confidential material and sensitive situations.

Commitment and Availability

  • Willingness and ability to dedicate adequate time to editorial duties, including regular handling of submissions and attendance at editorial meetings at the time of requirement.

Choosing an editor is a strategic decision that influences a journal’s reputation, efficiency, and scientific impact. Selection is based on the following principles:

Alignment with Journal Scope

  • Ensure the candidate's expertise closely aligns with the journal’s subject focus or the specific section to be managed.

  • Persons from a respected academic profile and significant contributions to the field will be taken into consideration.
  • Persons from active participation in scientific societies, conferences, or committees will be an additional value.

Editorial Vision and Strategy

Possesses a strong knowledge of the journal’s mission and proactively offers ideas to promote its growth, enhance quality, and foster community engagement.

Editorial Experience

  • Prior or current service on editorial boards is preferred for Editors, Associate Editors, and Guest Editors
  • Whereas for Editor-in-Chief roles, strong leadership and decision-making experience are essential.

Professional Reputation and Ethics

  • Ensure a clean record with no allegations of academic or publishing misconduct.
  • Seek references or input from other editors, publishers, or colleagues to assess professionalism and reliability. 

Geographic and Institutional Diversity

  • Promote global and institutional diversity to broaden perspectives, increase reach, and enhance fairness.
