Abstract

The strength of the Angolan woman is the greatest symbol that Angola represents, they are intelligent, hardworking and beautiful women who create an environment of trust and stability for all Angolans from Cabinda to Cunene helping them in the transformation of the largest economy, social and political sectors. Being a woman is special and unique, and nowadays the world is being dominated by women, which makes everything different and with a more positive humanist side, creating equally greater inclusion and interaction of women in societies and the great example is be lived in Angola. It is a review paper. The objective of this project is to understand the empowerment of women in Angola in 5 years as there has been significant growth in all important sectors of Angola's management.

Introduction

"The importance of women at all levels of our society is now a reality. In recent years, there has been a clear achievement of important positions on the part of women. Still in Ban Ki-moon's recent visit to the country he talked about it ", begins by saying Luisa Damião, who adds: "If we look at the legislative and judicial apparatus, we see that in about 60% of the prominent places are women. Today, we are in positions where previously it was 'forbidden' to dream of getting there. This has a lot to do with the effort of professionalization and the search for knowledge that women have made in Angola. Take, for example, colleges, where most students are women."

The role played by women in all stages of the development of society, that is, from antiquity to contemporaneity, and then be related to the great achievements of the Angolan woman. In this particular, the anthropologist highlighted in the history of Angola, the existence of women who have long given their souls and blood to the country and Angolans "we have examples of strong, intelligent, and skilled women. And in the most recent history we have references such as Deolinda Rodrigues, Lucrécia Paim, Engrácia dos Santos, Irene Cohen and Teresa Afonso considered heroines of Angola, and many others who among several tasks have always dedicated themselves at the same time, and even in the most difficult moments and with courage, to activities related to education, literacy, health, the transmission of ethical and cultural values,

Review of Literature

Angolan women have always played an important role in society, particularly within communities and have always struggled to emancipate themselves. It should be noted that the political culture of discriminating against women is not endogenous, resulting from misconceptions caused by colonial culture. The participation of Angolan women in economic and social life comes from a far distance, from a time when Europeans still did not admit women in politics, nor in any economic activity (Carolina,2019). Life is the greatest good of all, this should be treated with respect and seriousness, but what we see on a daily life is a marked ignorance of the rights and duties of all by a significant number of citizens, who sometimes adopt measures or posture harmful to the fundamental rights and freedoms of other citizens due to lack of knowledge of the laws and rights in the Charter of Human Rights (UNICEF 2020). In Angola there have been significant advances and political parties have adopted a principle that the percentage of seats in their elective bodies should be filled by women, and they have taken 40% of the seats in the Angolan parliament. Although we are in the TOP 20 in terms of gender representation in politics at international level, we intend to be a world reference in this matter, which is feasible in the medium term, as our history shows, in which famous queens and heroines were poured out and, because we are a country with a young population, with a great capacity for absorption and adaptation to new realities, especially if they represent an evolution in terms of socio-economic development (Tchizé 2019).

Challenges in empowering women in Angola:

  1. Cultural Discrimination: it is still complicated these days for society to believe that women have the capacity to make decisions and decide the future of Angola, the reality is that today a society where women represent 52% of the Angolan population which is normally the country to be led by them and has my rights as any other citizen.
  2. Nepotism:Looking at the great prominent women in decision-making, it has to be associated with the ruling party for 47 years in power, which is wrong, because  female empowerment it depends on the ability and willingness to make a difference for the well-being of all. Angolans  which is the primary objective, we have to look at Angola as the main factor and whoever has to make decisions depends only on their ability.
  3. Believing in yourself / Credibility: The lack of trust is also another big challenge; we have women with incredible abilities but they don't believe it's possible to do it and even with a great quality of know-how she is oppressed and doesn't accept to participate in the decision-making of the country that is Angola

Findings

  1. On August 24, 2022, the elections took place in Angola in which the MPLA won and in its new Government the empowerment of women is 5 stars in which we had 4 appointed governors, 9 Ministers, 1 Minister of State.
  2. For the first time in Angola, we have a woman as President of the National Assembly and as Vice-President of the Republic and several secretaries of State women, which is essential and fundamental for the empowerment of women in Angola.
  3. It is visible that in 2027 for the presidency of Angola to be a woman, what is the greatest position in the nation and something magnificent and historic.
  4. In Angola today the level of dedicated and outstanding students are women, in the police2, the number of women has increased which indicates that today women believe in themselves more than in previous years.

Discussion

After a deep study of descriptive quantitative methodology, it is possible to understand that the problem for women's empowerment is cultural i.e., society is not yet prepared for decision making. This project tried to show that even in the Government there is still a limit to the empowerment of women, let's see why to this day we have never had a Minister of Defense the reason is simple is the key sector of ministries which still indicates a fear on the part of the Government.

This project aims to contribute to a better understanding of the new generation where should be the key points for changing everyone's mindset about the level of superiority and how Angola has had changes in sectors in which we had Women Leaders.

Conclusion

The empowerment of Angolan women has been a major challenge for the executive who has made enormous efforts to create a great balance. Today it is beautiful to look at Angola and know that the second and third person in Angola are women appointed Vice-President of the Republic and President of the National Assembly.

It is now necessary for united women to show their great capacity for creation and innovation for greater inclusion of women in decision-making in Angola which I believe in 2027 have a woman in the place of President of the Republic.
