General Surgery: General Surgery is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis, preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of a wide range of surgical conditions affecting the abdomen, breast, skin, soft tissues, and endocrine system. It emphasizes both elective and emergency surgical care.

Preoperative Care: Preoperative care involves the medical evaluation, preparation, and counseling of a patient before surgery to optimize health, minimize risks, and ensure a safe surgical outcome. It includes assessment of medical history, physical examination, investigations, and patient education.

Intraoperative Techniques: Intraoperative Techniques refer to the specific methods, procedures, and maneuvers employed by surgeons and the surgical team during an operation to achieve the desired therapeutic outcome safely and efficiently. These techniques encompass tissue handling, hemostasis, instrument usage, and real-time decision-making.

Postoperative Complications: Unintended medical problems that occur after a surgical procedure, which may affect recovery, increase morbidity, or prolong hospital stay. These can range from mild issues, like wound infection, to severe events, such as bleeding, organ dysfunction, or thromboembolism.

Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS): A surgical technique performed through small incisions using specialized instruments and cameras, reducing tissue damage compared to traditional open surgery. MIS typically results in less pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and minimal scarring.

Robotic Surgery: A minimally invasive surgical technique in which surgeons use robotic systems to perform precise and controlled movements through small incisions. It enhances visualization, dexterity, and accuracy, reducing patient recovery time and surgical risks.

Laparoscopic Surgery: Laparoscopic Surgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique in which operations are performed through small incisions using a laparoscope and specialized instruments. It reduces post-operative pain, shortens recovery time, and minimizes scarring compared to traditional open surgery.

Surgical Site Infections (SSI): Surgical Site Infections (SSI) are infections that occur at or near a surgical incision within 30 days of an operation, or within 90 days if an implant is placed. They can involve the skin, subcutaneous tissue, or deeper tissues and organs, often caused by bacteria introduced during surgery.

Surgical Innovations: Surgical Innovations refer to the development and implementation of new techniques, tools, procedures, or technologies in surgery aimed at improving patient outcomes, reducing complications, and enhancing procedural efficiency. These innovations may include minimally invasive methods, robotic-assisted surgery, or novel surgical devices.

Anesthesia in Surgery: Anesthesia in Surgery is the medically induced, reversible state of unconsciousness, analgesia, and muscle relaxation, used to prevent pain and discomfort during surgical procedures. It enables surgeons to perform operations safely while maintaining patient stability and vital functions.
